President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., in an address to the nation, expressed deep sadness and frustration over the devastating incident, describing it as a significant blow to Liberiaβs democracy and unity.
The President shared his sympathies with the Legislature and extended gratitude to the brave firefighters, volunteers, and law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. He underscored the need for unity and resilience during this challenging time.
βThe Capitol Building has stood as a powerful symbol of our democracy, national unity, and source of national pride since its opening in 1957,β he recalled, assuring that βWhile its destruction is disheartening, I urge all Liberians to remain steadfast, united, and committed to rebuilding this institution.β
President Boakai also announced key directives to address the situation:
He instructed the security agencies to expedite their investigation into the cause of the fire. He further directed the Ministry of Public Works and the General Services Agency to conduct an immediate assessment to determine the extent of the damage.

The Liberian Chief Executive revealed that Liberia has been awarded a second Compact by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) due to the countryβs outstanding performance in governance and development.
