Child Justice Section Provides Relief Items to Juvenile Inmates in Monrovia and Sanniquellie

On Friday, August 8, 2025, the Child Justice Section of the Ministry of Justice donated assorted food and non-food items for use by Juvenile inmates at the Monrovia and Sinniquille Central Prisons respectively.

She said, the donation of these essential materials is aimed at improving the living conditions of juvenile inmates at the two prison facilities in the Country..

Presenting the items, the Administrative Coordinator at the Child Justice Section, Madam Louise G.M. Dweh, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of children in conflict with the law. “This gesture reflects our ongoing responsibility to ensure that juveniles in detention are treated humanely and have access to basic necessities,” she noted.

According to Mrs. Dweh, the items were procured through the support of the United Nations Children Funds ( UNICEF), a key partner of the Child Justice Section of the Ministry of Justice.

Receiving the items on behalf of the prison, Robert B. Boi, Assistant Director of Prisons Administration and the Superintendent of the Monrovia Central Prison, Roosevelt Varney expressed appreciation to the Ministry for its timely intervention.

They reaffirmed their dedication to upholding child protection standards within the prison facilities of the Country.

The initiative is part of broader efforts under the Ministry’s child justice reform programs to promote rehabilitation and reintegration of juvenile detainees.
