Monrovia, March 7, 2025 β The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with women from various sectors, joined the global celebration of International Womenβs Day (IWD) at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town. The event brought together women from government ministries, agencies, and civil society organizations to honor their contributions to society and advocate for gender equality.
International Womenβs Day, observed annually in March, serves as a platform to recognize the achievements of women, promote gender equity, and highlight the progress and challenges in empowering women across different sectors. This yearβs celebration underscored the strides women have made while acknowledging the work that remains in ensuring full equality and inclusivity.
The event featured inspiring speeches from prominent female leaders, engaging discussions on womenβs rights and advocacy, and presentations showcasing the success of women in leadership. These activities aimed to empower and motivate the next generation of women to continue breaking barriers and pursuing excellence with resilience and determination.
The Ministry of Transportβs delegation and organizing committee were led by Mrs. Marilyn Cummings Smith, Director of Training, as Chairperson; Mrs. Wannie G. Williams Karpue, Assistant Director of Driverβs License, as Co-Chairperson; and Mrs. Olive D. Scott, Director of Human Resources, along with other dedicated female professionals.
